When did your interest in photography start?
At the age of 15, I took my first pictures with my father’s camera, a Dacora Super Dignette. Then in 1971 I bought my first SLR camera, a Porst FX 4.
Is photography your hobby or your profession?
I am an amateur photographer.
How and where was the image you submitted to the competition taken? Is there a story behind it?
The picture was taken in my garden in winter. My son and his girlfriend were having fun in the snow. I cropped out some trees and bushes, since they would not have suited the image.
Who and/or what inspires you most?
I admire the early works of Ansel Adams. Landscapes are very inspiring, but inspiration also comes from the theme of a photo competition.
What’s your photographic focus?
My focus is on landscape and street photography, also in black and white and infrared. Sometimes I bring an analogue 6×9 or 6×7 camera with a few rolls of film when I go on vacation.
What’s your next photo project, your next challenge?
I am planning a trip to Namibia and the neighboring countries, but this is on hold at the moment because of the Corona virus situation there.
Do you include color management in your photographic workflow?
I’m happy to say I will do so more now that I have won a SpyderX Mobile Pro Kit!
What do you do with your photos? Do you print them, post them on your social media accounts or your website or do they simply stay on your hard drive?
I have very few images printed for display in my home. Sometimes I create a photo book, some photos I post on Instagram. I often take part in photo competitions. The rest of my photos lay dormant on my hard drive.
What’s your photographic goal? What do you dream of?
Like probably every photographer, I dream of taking THE ONE top photo.
