New 64-Bit Upgrade for Spyder5 Software

To date, both Windows and macOS operating systems support 32-bit and 64-bit applications. For users of the Apple operating system, there will soon be a major evolutionary step, as 32-bit apps will no longer be supported with the introduction of the Catalina macOS 10.15 operating system. Nothing changes for our customers who own the new SpyderX since that version’s software already supports 64-bit applications.

And what makes the difference?

All in all, the difference lies in the bandwidth and the way the memory can be managed. However, Spyder’s demand for hardware resources is very low and in terms of Spyder’s performance, this change is irrelevant.

What about Spyder5?

To ensure our Spyder5 customers are ready for the Apple OS upgrade, we’ve developed a software upgrade that will be available to download, free of charge, on October 15 of this year.

What is the benefit of upgrading?

Will Spyder5 get faster with its new 64-bit software? No. Since the duration of the calibration depends largely on the sensor and the calculation of the profile is immediate, no speed optimization is achieved by the software architecture. The benefit lies in the compatibility and this is ensured with this upgrade.

How can the calibration be accelerated?

In order to achieve a significant increase in speed, we advise all users to switch to SpyderX. This not only shortens the calibration time from approximately. 5.5 minutes or more, to less than one minute, but also significantly improves the accuracy, especially for newer monitor technologies.
